To update the 3D model of the apartment: I have added a kitchen area and adjusted the doors. The kitchen it’s self-took a lot of time as I went into a lot of detail with it, and I plan on adding shelving to the room very soon. Once all of the main models have been added in, I plan to go into further detail in each room. For example: adding cutlery in the kitchen.

Next steps are going to be to add in my bedroom and construct a bathroom. I understand creating the assets for a complete apartment is quite tasking, so I plan to add in all of the main (large) objects before beginning with the finer details and creating the smaller assets which make the apartment appear my realistic and visually appealing.

PS4 3D Model – Maya

This model is one of my favourite models that I have created (to date). I have gone into as much detail as possible by adding: the on button, eject button, two USB ports and the fan on the side. Unfortunately, I haven’t modelled the sockets on the back of the console or the controller.

If I was to redo this model in the future I would attempt to model the PS4 controller and include the sockets on the back of the console to add to the model and make it appear more realistic.

Designing my own appartment – Maya 3D

appartment layout

Over the last couple of days, I have begun planning and layout out an apartment design, to scale. Throughout the near future, I plan on gradually adding assets to this apartment, not only creating a very cool final model but also expansively growing my asset collection which can finally be highlighted in my portfolio. The apartment is a simple design containing: one bedroom, one bathroom, one balcony, and an open plan design which will contain a living room, dining room and kitchen. I really look forward to working on this as one of my own personal projects.

Room Reference – Maya

room reference.pngHere is a mood board I created as reference and for inspiration in modelling my room. I have taken all of these images and used them to inspire the models I have made. Some of my models are the same as real life objects, others are realistic examples of my own ideas. However, no matter what, I believe reference when modelling is very important (whether it is a real life object you are creating, or a made up one) as it allows for inspiration and design ideas to be ignited – to create your own 3D model. I also believe this makes your models more accurate and realistic because the detail is greater.

3D model of a Spacecraft

Today I worked on creating a more complex spacecraft which I plan to attempt to UV unwrap and texture within the next week. I plan to use Maya to unwrap and texture it, along with Adobe Photoshop to create the textures. I am fairly happy with the new improved spacecraft, however, like everything I create there is things I’d change to help improve it. For example I would like to adjust the cockpit and nose of the spacecraft.
